Hosted by the National Measurement Institute at their laboratories in Port Melbourne, the event will feature Professor Oliver Jones (RMIT), an audience-directed discussion session with NMI specialists and guided laboratory tours of NMI's world leading labs.

Professor Oliver Jones will present on his work in environmental monitoring for chemicals of concern and in metabolomics. This will be followed by an audience-directed interactive session where NMI specialists such as Kate Griffiths, Åsa Jämting and Danny Slee will be available to discuss your selection of topics from a range of current areas of interest, including microplastics, PFAS, pharmaceuticals, non-targeted screening, and measurement capabilities supporting pathogen management.

Participants will then experience a guided tour of NMI’s laboratories, including:

• NMI’s Bioanalysis laboratory: a world leader in digital PCR and one of a handful of laboratories worldwide with the capability and experience to create DNA/RNA certified reference standards, enabling other laboratories to achieve consistent, accurate and internationally traceable results.
• NMI’s Chemical Reference Values laboratory, which strengthens key chemical analysis capabilities of laboratories across Australia through the development of certified reference standards in real-world matrices and a carefully targeted proficiency testing program.
• NMI’s analytical chemistry laboratories, which have deep expertise in water quality testing, including for emerging areas of concern.

The event will also see NMI’s CEO, Dr Bruce Warrington present the 2022 Barry Inglis Medal to Professor Oliver Jones (RMIT) and provide participants the opportunity to network over light refreshments at the close of the event.

This event is free of charge for WaterRA members and non-members alike. It is designed for water industry professionals from utilities, government and the private sector.
